The Smögen Distillery was established on a farm, on Sweden’s west coast, in 2009. The distillery has a 900 litre wash still and a 600 litre spirit stil, and a production capacity of just 35000 litre per annum.
This bottling, the Sherry Octaves, forms part of the Sherry Project series of bottlings which explore the maturation of Smögen's heavily peated single malt in different styles of sherry cask for different lengths of time. The Smögen Sherry Octaves is a vatting of 18 first fill former sherry octaves filled in April 2013 and bottled in May 2017 at 53.6%. It is a limited edition of 1382 bottles. The octaves, being small casks of just 50 litres, have accelerated the maturation.
Being non chill-filtered, please allow the natural sediment to settle before opening.
